Russell M. Nelson is the new president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

  

Russell M. Nelson is the new president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The announcement was made today, 16th January 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. President Nelson, 93, succeeds President Thomas S. Monson who died January 2, 2018. As Church president, he is the leader of global faith with more than 16 million members.

He has called Dallin H. Oaks, 85, as first counselor, and Henry B Eyring, 84, as second counselor to serve with him in the First Presidency, the top governing body of the Church.
