On a bitterly cold February night, over 300 people from throughout the island of Ireland braved the elements to attend a devotional meeting in Dublin where they heard from Sister Jean B Bingham, General President of the Relief Society of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was accompanied by her husband, Bruce, together with Elder Roy Tunnicliffe, one of the Church's area leaders in Europe, and his wife, Vanessa.
Founded on St Patrick's Day in 1842, Relief Society, with over seven million members worldwide, is one of the longest established women's organisations on the planet.
Both of the Binghams claim Irish ancestry and expressed their delight at being in Dublin.
In her remarks, Sister Bingham assured her listeners that they were all children of a loving God and that the purpose of their existence was to have joy and happiness.
